ATCBox has been listening to aviation since 2002. What started as a handful of air traffic control streams from the Netherlands grew into streams, radar, webcams and fifteen years of posts, and is now a live view of Amsterdam Schiphol from its own control tower.
Streams, radar and webcams
The domain atcbox.com was registered on 28 May 2002 and the first post went up that October. Most of the early years were about the streams: live air traffic control audio from Schiphol, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Leeuwarden Air Base, Valkenburg, Soesterberg and Volkel, kept on air by volunteers around the country, and the posts told you when one went down and when it was back up.
Radar followed: a first live radar test for Schiphol in 2004, the SBS-1 live radar project in 2006 with receivers hosted around the country, and a map with Dutch MLAT in 2017. Alongside it ran airport webcams, among them a Schiphol webcam set up for ATCBox, photo albums and a forum.

Atcbox Schiphol Tower
Today ATCBox puts you in the cab of the Schiphol control tower, high above the airport. Atcbox Schiphol Tower shows the aircraft where they really are, from live ADS-B positions, under the weather from the latest METAR and TAF, with Schiphol tower and ground frequencies on the radio via LiveATC.net.
